A large-scale IT outage at Microsoft has caused significant disruption worldwide. Airports, gas stations and banks in Australia, Great Britain, the USA and India are among those affected. Berlin Airport has also not been spared the effects and has temporarily suspended air traffic. The cause of the disruption is a technical problem at Microsoft, which led to far-reaching restrictions in the infrastructure.

In addition to the airports, major companies such as Volkswagen and Audi are also affected by the IT disruption. Production in several plants, including Wolfsburg, Emden, Osnabrück and Zwickau, has been stopped. The offices at the headquarters in Wolfsburg are also at a standstill.

According to a company spokesperson, this is a network disruption that cannot be attributed to an external attack. A crisis team is working flat out to resolve the problems.

There were also significant disruptions in the financial sector and at gas stations. Banks in the affected countries are reporting outages and restrictions on online services and transactions. Gas stations are struggling with payment processing issues, leading to long queues and supply shortages.

The exact cause of the IT outage remains under investigation. Experts are working hard to resolve the issues and restore the affected services. However, the impact is already being felt and is affecting both the public and private sectors worldwide. The situation remains tense and it remains to be seen how quickly the affected services will be fully restored. There is currently no information as to whether this is a cyberattack.
